The Ides Of March - Vehicle

Pure excitement. Blasting trumpets. A riff with almost "Roman -sounding" parallel fifths, and a lead singer with a voice incredibly reminiscent of that of David Clayton-Thomas of the long-running , hit cranking group, Blood, Sweat and Tears.

This pop classic, circa 1970, has been used over and over to marker all manner of products in the years since it became the one hit signature single for the Ides Of March. The song, "Vehicle," is legendary. At the time of its release, many pop groups were adding horns (brass) to enhance, broaden and punctuate their sound, including:

  • Tower Of Power
  • Blood, Sweat and Tears
  • Chicago
  • The Sons...
  • Sly and the Family Stone
  • Tierra (very big on the Latino circuit, and crossing over in to the discos)
