This song, "Born To Be Wild" is the legendary rebel biker song that was immortalized in the movie "Easy Rider." Steppenwolf, the group that performed it, did the entire track to the movie and had quite a run with a batch of hard rock hits from "Magic Carpet Ride," to "Rock Me, Baby". I was in junior high school when Steppenwolf was sucking quarters out of kids' pockets by the pound and throwing them into jukeboxes all over the United States.
At that time, it seemed that everything was about pot, LSD, heroin, psilocybin, and other mind-altering drugs (I became addicted to One A Day Multiple vitamins, myself), and nobody had every heard about AIDS. It was a scary time and a hairy time.
