Lobo - "Don't Expect Me to be Your Friend"

The band Lobo had a stack of hits in the early 1970s. All very "easy listening," all very AM, all mellow. This song, while it received relatively little airplay was special for me ... I was dating a girl (whom I thought I was going to marry because she: 1). actually helped my mom with the dishes, and 2). had a charming south New Jersey accent), and on our way back from the Hoagie Heaven restaurant, this song came pouring out of the car radio. I remember thinking...."those lyrics are so profound, so moving... My train of thought was instantly de-railed when the object of all of my 17 year old fantasies and desires blurted out from from the passenger seat (I had cleaned and waxed the car just for my visit with this vision of loveliness. I had even sprayed some Brut cologne (By Faberge) into the air conditioning vents for a fuller sensorial experience), "The words to this song are soooo stupid."

It put a damper on our date.

I lost touch with her. My mother missed having someone to help her with the dishes, though.

Enjoy this song. And you (you know who you are) formerly from Cherry Hill, New Jersey, were the one who thought Johnny Mathis was the best sing singer since Enrico Caruso.  You said his voice was seductive. Who's laughing now?! Fooey!

Well.... the chances are your chances are I won't be looking you up on FriendFinder.

By the way...there's bonus picture below.
