Lugee Alfredo Giovanni Sacco, a.k.a. Lou Christie had a colossal hit with this song in 1965-1966. "Lightning Strikes" is pure classic. The lyrics are hysterical, as is Lou's voice when he jumps from his actual rock tenor to the whining falsetto that made him famous. The song was about as politically correct as an Amos and Andy rerun, completely sexist, but pure fun.
Listen for the elaborate instrumentation, the rise and fall of the horns...everyone invested in this song.
Enjoy it either by clicking on the hyperlink, or on the video player (if it wants to make an appearance). Heck, as a bonus, let's also listen to "I'm Gonna Make You Mine," which was not quite as big a hit for Lou, but which is still my favorite of his tunes. This is a two-fer.
