STEVIE WONDER - TOUCHING SOULS ENDLESSLY

Mabes:

I missed Stevie Wonder. More accurately, I miss Stevie Wonder.

You're right. I don't watch too much TV -- except (and only occasionally) Criminal Minds, Harry's Law, NCIS, Without A Trace; the special exceptions to this genre only happen by accident. For example, if I am doing finger exercises with the remote and I happen upon something that looks interesting about, say, alien visitors, biographies of notable persons of accomplishment, world history, real science, or the meanings of derivations of symbols, I'll watch.

I avoid stuff about cagefighting, extreme sports, and the like (ho-hum....been there...done that....nothing new) and anything to do with pop culture or celebrities.

Missed Stevie Wonder on TV. I wish that I'd seen him. Creepin' still does it for me every single time. I remember every scent, sight, touch and feeling that I experienced when I heard that song. I think of school breaks, Mustangs, Youth Dew, Halston, worrying about how I was dressed (was I man enough?), summer nights -- it distracts me to the point of wanting to go back in time. Sometimes it even paralyzes me.

I understand exactly what "bittersweet" means.

I owe you. And I suppose I owe Stevie, too.

Love Always,

DC
---------------
Stevie Wonder is one of the most prolific songwriters, producers, arrangers, performers (singing, all keyboards, and that amazing "Toots Thielmans - like" chromatic, crying, screaming soulful harmonica -- as expressive as a Human voice.

A brief collection of several of his songs (different eras, different albums) follows. Just click on the hyperlinks for each one, and enjoy it, then come on back and click on another one.

TOO SHY TO SAY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_j-MxKALFU&feature=related

I long for the innocence and wonder of my past....the mysteries unfolding like spring's first blooms - all of the awkwardness, all of the heart-pounding, all of the energy bottled up and ready to take me anywhere. Night-blooming jasmine. The stars. Driving with the windows down. Someone leaving a light on for me, even after I'd been off with someone else -- but back then, a fool's errand was like a holy mission, and you had to go in order to know. My heart and my mind were at war. The pragmatist and the romantic were at war. My libido kept itself wedged between my deepest feelings and my carelessness of the moment... I could have plead insanity then; but I know I'd choke on the hyprocrisy of that feeble plea if I could go back to that time and that place again. You never know just how delicious it was until you've tasted the last of it, and you never know just how far you can fall until you feel the pavement under your back. And so it goes. With thanks and apologies, I take a deep breath and prepare for a day, knowing full well that fewer of them remain than I have already expended.
