Take 6 - "SPREAD LOVE" - Ultimate A Cappella

A Gospel-based Christian group, with all of the best of Bobby McFerrin, Al Jarreau, wild Herbie Hancock harmony, polytonality and depth of feeling. A whole different a cappella ride. The first version is clean and clear, but is cut short by just a bit. Listen to it.

The second version (introduced by Sinbad, Live at the Apollo) is much longer, starts out with a fright ('specially if you be white) -- you think they're going to turn into rappers -- but they don't. Instead they build up a virtual orchestra of sounds, from percussion, to winds, to slap bass (that bass sound from the old Jedrry Seinfeld show), into a stunning crescendo which presents this song in its ultimate rendering. Live. Perfect. Spread Love.

Both versions follow -- listen to the first (click on the hyperlink or video player and then come back here), and then, only then, can you really appreciate the second. Anticipation. They build a wall of powerful music one brick at a time, until you have to strain your neck to see the top.

Amazing. Do I hear "Amen!" ? Well...

And now, for the thriller... stay with it.

I wander about this world. I wonder about it, too I search for goodness. Sometimes it creeps up on me when I'm busy being a cynic pounding my fists against the walls of a cave that I've built myself.

Believe in something.
