We entrepreneurs start out as individualists, with original dreams, plans and boundless faith. Then we form tentative teams to achieve our plans. We interact with partners, investors, suppliers, bankers, politicians and people. We cling to our dreams, like holding on to sapling maples in a hurricane, as we experience, betrayals, lies, power struggles and things that simply have no productive place in trying to reach a noble objective. We become leaders or losers. We become fighters or we become fallen.

We find out that most of doing business is not doing business at all... it is mostly about dealing with the imperfections of our own species. Duplicity, greed... slick opportunism. Accomplishing the simplest of things becomes increasingly like running a gauntlet of frustrated people, each with his or her own hidden agendas, hidden pains and frightening insecurities.

Only a small number of us will survive to truly become successful. If only people could stop playing games!

The Games People Play - A wonderful old song performed by Joe South (with his southern twangy voice and his slinky-sounding electric sitar/dobro apparatus in the background) still carries a poignant message to all who aspire to lead, to initiate change, to move mountains... with all of our technology, with all of our advances -- we Human Beings still run from our own truth.

Enjoy this song, as you nod your head in agreement. The words are immortal. They cry out to each and all of us about how hard life is because we have somehow chosen to make it much more difficult than it has to be. And no one wants it to be that way. But no one knows how to stop it.

Let's start by being honest with ourselves. And then we'll take it from there...

Please click on either the hyperlink below or on the video player (if it happens to appear on your screen). Listen in. Let it resonate. It's slightly tragic, but you'll be humming the song all day. Music is a wonderful distraction!

Thank you for letting me in. -DAZZ

THE GAMES PEOPLE PLAY
By Joe South

Oh the games people play now
Every night and every day now
Never meaning what they say now
Never saying what they mean

And they wile away the hours
In their ivory towers
Till they're covered up with flowers
In the back of a black limousine

Chorus
La-da da da da da da da
La-da da da da da de
Talking 'bout you and me
And the games people play

Oh we make one another cry
Break a heart then we say goodbye
Cross our hearts and we hope to die
That the other was to blame

Neither one will give in
So we gaze at our eight by ten
Thinking 'bout the things that might have been
It's a dirty rotten shame

Repeat Chorus

People walking up to you
Singing glory hallelulia
And they're tryin to sock it to you
In the name of the Lord

They're gonna teach you how to meditate
Read your horoscope, cheat your faith
And further more to hell with hate
Come on and get on board

Repeat Chorus

Look around tell me what you see
What's happening to you and me
God grant me the serenity
To remember who I am

Cause you've given up your sanity
For your pride and your vanity
Turns you sad on humanity
And you don't give a da da da da da

Repeat Chorus ####
