"I Can See Clearly Now" - Johnny Nash Dazzercise

Johnny Nash, with his crystal-clear tenor voice and lyrical style actually brought reggae (he was the original pre-Bob Marley , pre-Jimmy Cliff and pre-Third World REGGAE AMBASSADOR) to the United States with a wonderful song that came out in the 1960's titled "Hold Me Tight".

Years later, when I was a college freshman (1972), I was at one of those mindless-lights-out-and-everybody-crammed-in-one-dorm-room-and-make-out-(or-pretend-to)-incense-scented-ultraviolet-light-on-your-Morrison-or-Henrix-posters parties, when "I Can See Clearly Now" just came on. Although my drug of choice at the time was very cheap rose wine, the sounds of this reggae-cum-cha-cha with its island lilt and syth sounds made me feel like I was having the mind-expanding experience of my life. I wanted to buy the record. It was an aphrodisiac and a psychedelic -- all legal, and all safe.

It was a brilliantly arranged and performed song. It grabbed me. So did some girl from Brooklyn I'd never met before...

But enough about me. Please click either on the button or on the YouTube Video Player (if it makes and appearance) and indulge yourself in this classic.
