Give Me Just A Little More Time - The Chairmen Of The Board - Procrastination Sensation

This song is a Motown escapee. When I first heard "Give Me A Just A Little More Time" by The Chairman Of The Board, I thought two things:

1) What a fabulous rock single;

2) The lead singer's voice, with its pleading, trembling, almost stammering quality was totally unique. It sounded just as if he'd been waiting on line at a public restroom after drinking too much Pepsi in the park.

If you like to procrastinate (as I do, but we can talk about that later), this is our international theme song! Budget season, tax season, the rent -- in the US, due to the current economic crisis, you should sing this song to every bill collector who has the audacity to phone you. Really. Try it.

Here's a brief bit of history from the tasteful music aficionado who posted this glorious theme on YouTube...

Give Me Just a Little More Time" is the debut single for Chairmen of the Board, released in 1970 (see 1970 in music) through Capitol Records on Holland Dozier Holland's Invictus Records label.

The song was written and produced by Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier, Edward Holland, Jr., and Ron Dunbar. Because of then still pending lawsuit against Holland-Dozier-Holland from their former employers, Motown, the trio credited themselves with the pseudonym "Edythe Wayne" for this song and many other early Invictus/Hot Wax releases. "Give Me Just a Little More Time" features Chairmen of the Board lead singer General Johnson as the narrator, begging a lover who rejected him to reconsider and give him "just a little more time".

You know what to do. Do it for RadioDAZZ. Do it for YOU. You'll be smiling.
