"Video Killed The Radio Star" was the very first music video on television. It aired on MTV. My friends and I thought it was fun. We didn't know that beautiful, heartfelt soulful singing, screaming guitars, rich Hammond Organ, and fantastic cascading full-chord harmonies, as well as indelible meolodies, had become an endangered species. Damn. You'll excuse me if I don't thank the Ruggles. Was it the Ruggles? Ooah O!

Too much marketing and video, and not enough "musical contagion" and listening with eyes closed and using the magical muscle of romantic imagination. Ah, well.
