Midnight In Moscow - Kenny Ball and His Jazzman - British Take on Russian Dixieland

Three Dedications.

I dedicate this song, to the very special people: One, my late gradfather who came from Russia to the United States so that I could be born into a better country and a better way of life; and two, to my friend, business associate and brother-in-vision, Mike Phillips -- a writer, a steward of the world's future and a lover of great sounding brass, and three, to Thomas C. Kern, Jr., a Director of Operations for TNNWC Group, LLC, a fellow martial artist, a horn player, and the man hidden in the engine room of the Starship National Networker. We lovingly call him "Scotty." Thomas exemplifies loyalty, tenacity, faith and integrity. We are honored to have him as part of our organization.

This is Kenny Ball's very famous (and N'awleans-flavored) soulful cover of the Russian dixieland standard -- "Midnight In Moscow". My grandfather loved this song. Oddly enough, he also enjoyed watching American Bandstand.

Listen for the instruments in wild counterpoint, melodies intertwined -- banjo, bass, trumpet, muted trombone (wah-wah), wailing clarinet, snare and cymbals. Fabulous modulations - each a fresh rebirth of the theme.
