One hit wonder? Maybe. They had a second song which didn't quite make it past the cutting room.
The lead singer sounds quite a bit like David Clayton-Thomas of Blood, Sweat and Tears. Great harmony and dynamics. Truly a song. Truly a message.
Listen especially for the "B" section where the lead singer sings "Brandi used to watch his eyes/ when he told his sailor's story/ she could feel the ocean fall and rise/ she felt its rage and glory..." It still gives me chills -- the way the brass section comes in and swells and retreats, you can feel the ocean. The arrangement is pure elegance.
If the video player doesn't pop right up, simply click on this link to enjoy the song -- in fact, the doggone contributor has disable embedding of a video player, so I'll just put in a picture of this incredibly well-groomed group, dressed in sartorial spendor below the link. serves 'em right.
