I'll admit it. I am a diehard Melissa Manchester fan. This song, "Just Too Many People" was underplayed and underexposed...but it is pure feel-good dynamite, and virtually explodes with musicality and driving enthusiasm. It reminds me (in its feel ) of Diana Ross' "Climb Up The Ladder To The Roof," but with a bit more subtlety in the dynamics (the volume levels, the added instrumentation, the chorus versus the solo verses), and a fabulously suspenseful lead-in chord (I believe that it is a C Major with a B flat [the seventh] in the bass) that grabs you by the hand and takes you into a verse in F Major.
The song is pure joy. I dedicate it to Ms. J. Mabel Becker, the wonderful young woman who took me into her life, and cast every moment of our time together against a backdrop of unforgettable music. She almost had me talked into becoming a career musician and performer. I celebrate February 15th every year and dedicate it to her -- and to her gift of music and love to me when I was somewhere between a little boy and a young man. Girl - If you should hear this, email me and tell me that you're okay.
Listen to this wonderful song. Click and enjoy.
