The terrific bouncy disco beat (reminiscent of such hits as "Aquarius," "Concrete And Clay" and a whole host of great songs by Frankie Valli And The Four Seasons spanning over two decades) made this song a sing along, dance along Hues Corporation Sensation when it first emerged on Top 40 radio.
We were secretly singing "Rock The Boat" when we were sitting in class. Clubs, discos and juke joints were firing it out all over the USA.
Ironically, the beat of this wonderful DiscoDAZZ re-discovery is also suitable for a light calypso (very apropos of the sailing lyrics) or for a slow and swinging meringue or merengue [Did I spell that correctly either time?].
Find out more about this "M" dance which is wild to mix up with a hustle -- which will ultimately confuse the crap out of your dance partner, who had best have a great sense of humor, as well as balance -- by visiting The Westchester Ballroom Blog or Website.
