The truth be told, SQUEEZE is an amazingly prolific, sophisticated British rock band. Great sound, great catalog of hits ("Tempted," "Pulling Muscles From A Shell," "Black Coffee In Bed"). They brough a fresh, clean sound and an hysterical lyric wit to the 1980s and a chunk of the 1990s.
They were perpetually jilted fellows, and they loved to sing about it with sarcasm and stoicism. My absolute favorite of all time was "Another Nail In My Heart," which brought to mind a sound to rival the Monroes. Great horse-kickin' drums, powerful shouting harmonies and a sound that made you want to dance.
Their instrumentation (love that Hammond organ with a Leslie speaker sound), great guitar work, and steady power cadence drumming. Hit makers
My friend and musical advisor, Jay, brought a song of theirs to my attention that just knocked me out. It haunted me. It badgered me. I couldn't get the sound out of my head. It was pure 1970s rock n roll with a serious SQUEEZE refacing and upgrade. The song never got enough airplay!!! What were we doing in 1993? Look what we were missing!
It is called "Everything In The World," and it is a fabulous, fabulous tune. It's got love, loss, sarcasm, stoicism, visual lyrics (?), and a damned guy in love waiting at the airport for a lover who never arrives. Great beat. Great vocal. Great lyrics. Super story.
Do your Uncle DAZZ a major favor. Play this song. Twice. Loud. Let your feet boogie a bit.
Then, send this article out to everyone in the world you know by email, text, and through every social media channel that hasn't banned you. These guys deserve it. This song is nothing less than unappreciated, underplayed genius. Let's make it GO VIRAL.
Spread the word. It's about "Everything In The World" by SQUEEZE!
Please! (And Thanks!)
From the album Some Fantastic Place released in 1993.
Another great tune by the song writing duo of Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook.
Enjoy.
