It is Halloween, the joyous ancient Pagan fest when, after the moon is high and the wolf howls (a mournful and blood-curdling sound), the living are reunited with the dead, who rise up for one last dance (likely a waltz or gavotte -- definitely not a bossa nova, the monkey or the swim) before they must return to the other side.
In the meantime, the undead (mostly vampires and difficult relatives who've moved in with you) continue to suck their sustenance out of the living, so that they may do the things that vampires like to do. Like making movies, for example.
