Livin' It Up [Friday Night!] Bell and James - DIZZAZZTER MASTER BLASTER

Time to indulge in some truly DAZZ-O-LICIOUS* delight.

Bell and James outdid themselves with this anthem to every paycheck-to-paycheck brother and sister working at a put-up-with-it job and an ungrateful boss out of the necessity to make ends meet. This is about people living for the weekend. Thank God It's Friday!

This song was a study in controlled, sound-around, slightly held-back explosive funk. The super-produced arrangement and instrumentation are soulful, clavinet-laden, drum sockin', bass-popping, voice shadowing (those great whispering, repeating reverb-free lines coming in behind every lyric), treble guitar upbeat high note emphasized super soul.

Some of us work for the Man (whoever He is), slaving away every day just daydreaming through the hum-drum routine just so we can survive long enough to get into our clubbing clothes and be (oh yes -we be) "Livin' It Up, Livin' It Up At Last/ Friday Night."

The song is aflame with negative references to boring jobs, coming in late (and getting the hairy eyeball from the boss), punching the time clock and struggling to have enough coin left over at the end of the week (after the landlady knocks on the door and insists on getting paid the month's rent in real cash) to disco, to rock, to let the loud music drown all of the aches and slights and disappointments of the week away.  Friday night is sacred - it's the traditional beginning of life after death for the working class.

Bell and James caught the flavor of this song. You've got to love the "up and down the stairs" bass riff. The song is a genuine candidate in the DAZZ official DIZZAZZTER MASTER BLASTER Hall Of Fame.

Whether you're from Philly [remember TSOP], Cleveland, Detroit [Motown], NYC or LA, this song gets the adrenalin pumpin'. Bell and James, Gamble and Huff, Rufus and Chaka, give us more stuff.

Click and enjoy this. Don't wait 'til Friday. This is a fabulous five-minute vacation song any day! Done ever let this magical music die. Forward this article to every friend you've got (and even the ones who you owe money to), tweet it, retweet it, pin it, spin it and let's brighten up the world just a little bit. DAZZ thanks you. And so will all of your friends.
