Tito Nieves (part of the Fania Allstar crew) is a crossover stylist, bringing the bilingual and deeply syncopated nuances of salsa to the Anglo dance floor. He has a rich, emotional voice, filled with joy, and is backed by a real band with real instruments and a fabulous supporting chorus.
This particular version (Tito's cover version) of the otherwise all-too-somber "I'll Always Love You" knocks me out. Big in the 1980s, senor Nieves brought salsa back in a big way and started a latin dancing craze that has continued growing amongst all types of people of diverse ethnicity to salsa studios on both the East Coast (primarily New York) and the West Coast (primarily LA) of the United States.
I'm currently in the process of taking some private lessons with Ms. Barbara Antes and Mr. Michael Pagan (winner of more than 30 awards for varied types of ballroom dancing, and an accomplished choreographer, to boot) at the famed Westchester Ballroom. Way to go, Hermano!
Click and enjoy this fabulously enlivened version of a popular song. The percussion and the brass will send chills down your spine. The female chorus and occasional synth riffs will give you an out-of-body experience... 'nuff said. It's DAZZILICIOUS:
