KC And The Sunshine Band had a great string of disco-funk (you could do the "bump" or the "funk" to any of 'em) hits that were amazingly simple and memorable, and created a soulful sound all their own. They took the best of Secret Weapon ["Must Be The Music'], The Strykers ["Body Music"], and a few other "few hit wonders" and blended in an element of pop lyrics and unforgettable refrains that made every song accessible and singable to a tremendously wide audience. They cut right across racial lines, cultural lines and even had moms and dads ( ! ) singing "Shake Your Booty" at virtually every catered (both Kosher and Non-Kosher) social affair.

The Group made it into all of the clubs and into Polite Society at the same time. Definitely a Dazz Rocket And Shock It Wave Effect hit.

I was smitten by their opening hit, which was "Get Down Tonight."

Played on real 45" vinyl. Hot Plastic pop meets Disco-Funk. Great rhythm guitar strum, pumping bass, synth riffs. Magic with 4 chords. Musicians -- dig that 7th sus4 to 7th pattern! In the Key of F Major, it was a hypnotically danceable. Simple kick-in-the-chest throbbing bass, too. Um!

Every verse was F7 sus4 to F7. The refrain ("Do a little dance...) was simply C minor to Bb7. But from the wacky synth beginning, to the studio fade at the end, you were into that song. Couldn't get it off of the radio or out of your head. I'd walk down the street and hear people humming it. That's The Way (uh-huh uh-huh) I Like It!!!

Turn up the volume (be proud, Dazz-O-Lites and Dazz-O-Lettes!), get comfortable, stop the multitasking and job nonsense (especially if it's causing you recurring bouts of narcolepsy, with intermittent stress episodes). Pull the pin. Click on it.
