You Ain't Messing With TNNWC or GIST VIDEO - A RadioDAZZ Double

Share this ARTICLE with your colleagues on LinkedIn .

This Is RadioDAZZ

Yes. This is a RadioDAZZ music break for de-stressing, re-energizing, and refreshing those creative juices. It contains two songs selected by none other than Mr. Mark H. Blankenship of TNNWC Group and GIST VIDEO. Mark just can't get enough of these songs -- they are sacred to him. It mentions them daily...not unlike a mantra.

Take a moment (or two) to listen to the each of these two fine musical selections. The first one (from 1968) will knock your socks off, stimulate dopamine and epinephrine production, accelerate your metabolism and make you want to go out and buy duct tape and sharp tools..

The second, a beautiful, famous work by Billy Joel (my former limo driver), will calm you down... so much so that you'll leave your machine gun at home when reporting for your job at the U.S. Postal Service. It will put you into an alpha state; the brainwave frequency setting most conducive to imagination, imagery and creativity. You may want to spray paint something personal, yet cute, about an old lover on a restroom stall in a large public place which is well-travelled.

Listen. 'Tis all I can ask. The first one will rile your bile. The second will calm you down so delightfully you may want to purchase a fine bouquet of flowers for your boss, or an old school principal, or a kindly priest (if he hasn't been on the Vatican's "Rotational Protection Program".

Lastly, please read the important message from GIST VIDEO at the end of this post. It's at the bottom, where fellows like Mr. Blankenship usually like to go fishing.

Remember to visit RadioDAZZ daily at http://radiodazz.blogspot.com/ , and to make us a FAVORITE. If you scroll around on the site, there's even a time machine jukebox. No foolin'.

Click on each of the hyperlinks or video players (if they decide to appear on your screen) below to enjoy some (honestly) wonderful music. I swear. Constantly.

GIST VIDEO gets them to "YES." Click on http://bit.ly/UltraFastMessaging to learn more. If that's too much too ask, you may also click on http://bit.ly/TheGist . This last one sounds like a Stephen King story. It does to me. "WHEN THE COMMITTEE DOESN'T HAVE TIME FOR A SLIDE SHOW OR A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION" -- Just the GIST, ma'am. Short. Sweet. Perfect.

RadioDAZZ Music Break - STYLISTICS - Happy New Year!

Share this ARTICLE with your colleagues on LinkedIn .

The Stylistics and the Spinners were two of my favorite "Philly Disco Sound" groups during the best part of the disco era. A great deal of their music was co-composed or co-arranged by the amzing team of Gamble and Huff.

The Spinners were fabulous, with their "signature" sound, sweet harmonies and tender, thoughtful, lonely lyrics. The Stylistics had excellent, memorable songs as well, but their signature sound revolved around their lead vocalist's falsetto voice, filled with love and joy. Their music was a bit less funky, and a bit milder -- the difference between "pop" and "easy listening," perhaps. The Spinners could make you cry -- but the Stylistics made you feel glad to be alive.

I've selected several of my favorite romantic songs performed by the immortal Stylistics. "Betcha By Golly, Wow," you'll be singing along. These terrifically artful and richly orchestrated melodies will be playing inside your head long after the actual music has stopped playing on your computer...

Listen for interesting modulations, transitions, and a tangy, twangy taste of electric sitar. Lush and plush. Heavenly. The Stylistics.

Either click on the hyperlinks or, if they make an appearance, click on the YouTube video players.

By the way, one and all -- Happy New Year -- may 2011 be filled with peace, prosperity, progress, robust health and wonderful moments. May you be surrounded by your friends (provided that they are not toting weapons) and close to those whom you are blessed to love, and those whom are blessed to love you.

Faithfully,

Douglas Castle

Foreigner - "Feels Like The First Time" -- Another fabulous rock march, big, think, well-rehearsed sound, great harmonies...eerie synth interlude in the middle -- draws you in and makes you listen all the more diligently, just waiting for the reprise of the march.

Enjoy This.

Kansas - "The Point Of No Return"

Share this ARTICLE with your colleagues on LinkedIn .

Another fabulous rock n' roll symphony, with multiple movements, modulations, multiple themes, power, tasteful synthesizers, memorable riffs...brilliantly written, arranged and performed by Kansas. Great march theme, with breaks into wonderful side roads. Simulated strings are incredibly well-used. Wall of vocal harmony, and thoughtful, passionate solos.

Earth, Wind and Fire - Return By Popular Demand!

Share this ARTICLE with your colleagues on LinkedIn .

RadioDAZZ - Favoritize and Rhapsodize.

EARTH, WIND AND FIRE

These are my two of my favorite songs from Earth, Wind and Fire, one of the most energetic and rich-sounding groups of the Disco era.

In a class by themselves, they used full, live, on-stage instrumentation and created a fusion of Disco and Soul that made them stand up and stand out.

I was starting to get serious about pumping iron in the gym (so that my shirts wouldn't look so empty), and still had some aspirations of a career as a musician...but I was starting to suffer from a worrisome dose of early-onset Pragmatism. I actually worked as an accountant for a short time after graduating with my MBA. Fortunately for survival of  the gossamer thread of my sanity and for the other struggling, young partner-bound junior accountants and auditors of the Manhattan-based firm, one of the partners fired me for insubordination [he caught me doing my impression of his voice, which was indeed something special]. But, back to Earth, Wind and Fire ...

The first song, "September," is straight-ahead funk, with a backbone of phenomenal, repetitive, hypnotic harmony -- all of it in high register. It was a legendary hit, and lives on (even at the end of that Ben Stiller-infested movie "Night at the Museum," or whatever it was called, when all the exhibits came to life and were dancing together in a boogie wonderland). It shouted pure joy, with an undertone of wistful nostalgia.

The second song, "Love's Holiday," was a fabulous slow-dance ballad, with distinctive, polytonal chord structures that created a combination of mystery  and majesty. It was musically quite complex, but so graceful (like a ballet dancer) that you would never feel the work that went into its composition and arrangement. It is slightly physical, with some very warm references, but it stays just below the surface and never gets crude, or undignifies the worshipful love, both in its physical and emotional forms, that inspired its creation.

Click on either the links or the video players to enjoy both of these wonderful songs.
