My Maria - B.W. Stevenson's Greatest Progressive Country Hit!

Share this ARTICLE with your colleagues on LinkedIn .

This has been my favorite Top 40 country and western single since it first came out so many years ago. It's been re-done in a good cover by Brooks and Dunn, but nothing is as purely musical and openly harmonious as the original. A classic -- "My Maria" -- just listen to the high note (in the vocal) held, howled and dropped during the refrain. It's always reminded me of a lonesome desert wolf (hey - remember Lobo? -- "I Love You Too Much To Ever Start Liking You"  had me drowning in my own tears over breaking up with my girlfriend when I was 17 years old).

Thank you, B.W. Stevenson for giving my cousin Stu Schulman (best pedal steel guitar player from Texas to Alaska!) his first big break in the music industry.

The RadioDAZZ Blog salutes you. One of my favorite country crossover songs, with fabulous high notes and rich, full harmony. Great guitar work -- key of E Major rings out like religion. Thumbs up!

Uncle Dazz respectfully requests that you either click on the link or on the video player below and (after you've opened the windows to let the breeze in, found a chair that permits you to slouch ergonomically, and gotten a tall glass of iced tea -- preferably with a wedge of lime in it -- and gotten your puppy to where you can pet him) listen to a glorious song - B W Stevenson's very finest, may he rest in peace.

How about some B.W. Stevenson revival linkage?

B. W. Stevenson, born Louis Charles Stevenson, was an American country pop artist, working in a genre now called progressive country. "B.W." stood for "Buckwheat." Stevenson is most famous for his song "My Maria", co-written with Daniel Moore. Wikipedia

Music Break - AWB - Work To Do! - RadioDAZZ

Share this ARTICLE with your colleagues on LinkedIn .

I'll admit it. I snagged this post from my personal blog http://aboutdouglascastle.blogspot.com/ . This song, originally performed by the Isley Brothers, was re-made brilliantly in the 1970s by The Average White Band.

AWB takes it a bit faster, and they actually make it more intense. Listen to the power of the driving, hypnotic refrain, "Work! Work!".

If you'd like, skip the article and go right to the link at the end. I have no way of knowing, and so I won't be insulted. The song is absolutely funkacious. That's all there is to it.
---------------

I believe that every Entrepreneur's and Visionary's greatest challenge is balancing between the business microscope and the business telescope... we are constantly having to shift our focus from the smallest incremental chores (we couldn't pay anyone else enough to take them on!) to the re-framing of the big picture, or the "Grand Design". It is difficult to live in a house while you are building it.

Actionable Items: Spread this picture around. Mass email it. Post it on your Social Media groups and pages. Blow it up to poster size. Mount it on the walls of your office or garage. Frame it. Laminate it. Look at it and laugh! It will, indeed resonate with you.

And now, to the RadioDAZZ selection - "Work To Do" by the Average White Band. Crank up your speakers, put on your sneakers. I dare you to hold still. You won't be able to. In fact, you will be tempted (always yield to temptation when it's about sharing something great) to turn up the volume so that the whole office can hear. Let it fly over those cubicles like the spirit of liberation.

Quick Amended Update About My "Grown-Up" Blogs - Douglas Castle

Share this ARTICLE with your colleagues on LinkedIn .

Is time merely an illusion? Then I can stay up as late as I want! - Douglas E. Castle

This article is an amended re-post. Previously, it was a combination of friendly self-promotion, news and some compost; that last ingredient is what is spontaneously generated when you try to do things in too much haste. This time, I have included hyperlinks embedded in each of the blue blog buttons (try saying that three times fast), which are hosted courtesy of CoolText, a wonderful graphics and design tool.

If you think that you've seen this post before, you actually haven't -- as they used to say on every package in every supermarket when I was a mere lad, this article is "NEW and IMPROVED!"

I've even added a picture to this article. The subject matter of the picture is irrelevant, but that doesn't make it any less entertaining - and entertainment, like education, is always welcome.

Please visit some of my most popular blogs, and feel free to comment on articles, to link to any of them (and I will reciprocate your backlink with an inbound link to your site), or to re-publish any of the content. You can re-publish without permission, provided that you republish any articles in their entirety, with all images and hyperlinks left fully intact and 'live,' and with attribution given to the author (that's me).

At the end of this post, you'll find a listing  of links to related articles that involve various aspects of  these search terms, categories, tags, keywords, labels and topics for your reference and use.

As always, I truly appreciate your reading me.

Thank you so much.
