Tina Turner's Incredible Version Of The Song "Missing You" - Radio DAZZ

Share this ARTICLE with your colleagues on LinkedIn .

Tina Turner's Amazing Version Of “Missing You”

A Popular 'Mood Song” From The 1980s, Tina Turner takes pleasantly hypnotic, repeatedly riffed “elevator tune” music (I never cared for the original) and turns it into a kickin', fire-breathing dragon with a torn-up heart. Her performance of this song is stunning and spellbinding. It has so much power, so much slightly-supressed raw soul [with an amazing, pumping bass line in the back as well as pounding, throbbing drums offset against a backing of a full orchestra], I knocked me out when I first heard it. And like the thought of first love, it still knocks me out. I cannot hear enough of it. Play it loud with your bass booster up. And no worries – the signature guitar riffs stills shines as it cuts through the rich orchestration like a razor though a wedding cake...

I also wanted to dedicate this song to all of the people in my life who brought music to me, including (but not necessarily limited to, if my memory serves) Jay Goldberg, Debra Doff Horn, Joyce Becker Match, Gary L. Alexander, Michele Dagavarian Miller, Christine M. Knapp, Neil Grover, Rachael Adelson, Sharron Boecke, Danielle Kent, Robin Ellen Cohen, Patty Antone, Warren Green, David Ben Bernard, Ray Shattenkirk, Elizabeth A. Davis and my sister, Diane A. Castle-Feuer, who used to boogie around the house when we were children.

Thank you all. Now either click on the link or on the YouTube video player to listen to this amazing work of art -- the video is quite engaging as well. Enjoy this:

DURAN DURAN! - RadioDAZZ Music Break

Share this ARTICLE with your colleagues on LinkedIn .

Duran Duran made the middle 1980s hum. They were rockers, indeed. But they had a powerful sound, filled with conviction, iconic themes, and memorable refrains that kept on reverberating in the back of your head. They were serious, but sarcastic. The harmony was incredible, and the arrangements so crisp that you could hear every single sound - no river mud - all diamonds. And don't tell your Uncle Dazz [ working hard for you here at The RadioDAZZ Blog, and cranking up the gas to set your memories and soul aflame] that their music won't totally grab your mood and direct you to some imaginary place (or maybe it's real) between the worlds.

So veddy British...so articulate and expressive!

You know how we do this: You click on each hyperlink or mini YouTube video player, savor the flavor, revel in the mood -- and then you come back to me and do the same with the next!

You'll enjoy these. Be patient with VIEW TO A KILL -- it's worth it.

That last link had incredibly complex thematic orchestration -- full acoustic instrumentation.

And, my favorite -- with a middle eastern twist;

Get Music. Great Videos. Turn up the gas. Throw in the match...

Thank you for spending some time with me, and for every retweet that makes RadioDAZZ complete.

GET DOWN TONIGHT! - KC And The Sunshine Band Disco-Funk

Share this ARTICLE with your colleagues on LinkedIn .

CLICK ON THE ABOVE PIC TO ENLARGE AND EXTEND YOUR PLEASURE IN HI-REZ.

KC And The Sunshine Band had a great string of disco-funk (you could do the "bump" or the "funk" to any of 'em) hits that were amazingly simple and memorable, and created a soulful sound all their own. They took the best of Secret Weapon ["Must Be The Music'], The Strykers ["Body Music"], and a few other "few hit wonders" and blended in an element of pop lyrics and unforgettable refrains that made every song accessible and singable to a tremendously wide audience. They cut right across racial lines, cultural lines and even had moms and dads ( ! ) singing "Shake Your Booty" at virtually every catered (both Kosher and Non-Kosher) social affair.

The Group made it into all of the clubs and into Polite Society at the same time. Definitely a Dazz Rocket And Shock It Wave Effect hit.

I was smitten by their opening hit, which was "Get Down Tonight."

Played on real 45" vinyl. Hot Plastic pop meets Disco-Funk. Great rhythm guitar strum, pumping bass, synth riffs. Magic with 4 chords. Musicians -- dig that 7th sus4 to 7th pattern! In the Key of F Major, it was a hypnotically danceable. Simple kick-in-the-chest throbbing bass, too. Um!

Every verse was F7 sus4 to F7. The refrain ("Do a little dance...) was simply C minor to Bb7. But from the wacky synth beginning, to the studio fade at the end, you were into that song. Couldn't get it off of the radio or out of your head. I'd walk down the street and hear people humming it. That's The Way (uh-huh uh-huh) I Like It!!!

Turn up the volume (be proud, Dazz-O-Lites and Dazz-O-Lettes!), get comfortable, stop the multitasking and job nonsense (especially if it's causing you recurring bouts of narcolepsy, with intermittent stress episodes). Pull the pin. Click on it.
