Even I Had Hair Like That In The 1970s*

This Was Your Uncle DAZZ (Douglas E. Castle) in 1976. LOOK AT THAT HAIR!

In the tradition of The Beatles, Badfinger and just a bit of The Turtles, Eric Carmen and the Raspberries put the book of rock in the blender and poured it out. The result was a wonderful mashup of twangy guitar riffs and loud, open stringed chords (that high E-string would ring out like a rock n' roll bell). Backed by kick-you-in-the-butt-drums and a heavy, simple and deliberate bass guitar, Eric stretched his voice (a la Roger Daltry, Paul McCartney, Steve Tyler and -- years later-- Steve Perry) to its nasal limits and led a band with a sound that was a joyous noise and a wonderful sing-along tribute to the School Of Rock.

Simple, pure and exploding with enthusiasm, Uncle DAZZ of The Radio DAZZ Blog is proud to offer up two of the Raspberries' greatest mainstream radio hits. Listen with the volume cranked up and try to keep from dancing. If your surrounded by other people in your workplace, subway terminal, or wi-fi equipped Starbucks, play them louder. A fabulous inspired and inspiring song from Bill Withers, a 1970s sensation with such hits to his credit as "Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone" and "We All Need Somebody To Lean On." Bill Withers' soulful voice was a magnificent instrument. When he spoke -- he stuttered -- when he sang, his voice was clear and pure and true.

This song, in the key of E Major, is the perfect morning energizer. And as a fellow I once did some yard work with once said, "aint no man can hold a note like Bill Withers, son."

Listen for yourself, as Bill Withers brings up the morning sun and holds a note (an 'E') to resonate with your joy. Every day brings with it a chance at redemption. I'm still trying hard to get it right; but maybe one fine day I just might.

this song is just unexplainable , today , I think was the worst day in my entire life . But i come home and get on my pc , stumble upon this song and i forget every little care i ever had in my life , it is really a trance-inducing song that embues you with an aura of melodic energy ! Bill Withers is a true master of music.

Duran Duran made the middle 1980s hum. They were rockers, indeed. But they had a powerful sound, filled with conviction, iconic themes, and memorable refrains that kept on reverberating in the back of your head. They were serious, but sarcastic.
